What is a brow lift?

A brow lift is a cosmetic surgical procedure that improves the appearance of sagging eyebrows. As we age, gravity and repeated facial expressions can cause eyebrows to droop. Dr. Alan Serure in Miami performs various brow lift techniques to create a more youthful appearance of the face by lifting and repositioning the eyebrows.

A brow lift is a surgical procedure performed on an outpatient basis and is often combined with facial rejuvenation procedures, such as blepharoplasty, eyelid surgery or facelift. In many cases, Botox® injectables can preclude surgery as an excellent substitute for a brow lift.

What are the types of brow lifts?

A temporal brow lift, also known as a lateral brow lift, raises the position of the eyebrows from the temples or the sides of the forehead. Incisions are hidden within the hairline, minimizing the visibility of scars.
An endoscopic brow lift is carried out by making small incisions within the hairline and fitting an endoscope through the brow area, lifting the skin and muscles.
A coronal brow lift is used to raise the brows and remove forehead wrinkles. For this technique, an incision extends across the hairline so the forehead can be lifted and excess skin trimmed from the scalp area. This procedure is associated with extreme cases that require a brow lift.

Are there risks to having a brow lift?

While the scaring is hidden within the hairline, it may occasionally be visible. Numbness is common and usually subsides between six months to a year. Hair loss at the incision site and bleeding are rare side effects.

What happens during a brow lift procedure?

Before your surgery, Dr. Serure will mark your brow. In our state-of-the art operating room, a board-certified anesthesiologist MD will administer intravenous sedation or general anesthesia. Dr. Serure will make an incision to gently lift the outer aspect of the brow, retracting the skin and muscle. The incisions will be concealed within your hairline.
