The purpose of a chemical peel is to gently remove the uppermost layer of skin. This method of exfoliation relies on the interaction between skin cells and a formulation of chemicals. Treatment involves the application of a precisely-formulation solution, which remains on the skin for a specified duration of time. These variables allow us to customize each peel to the patient’s skin type, tone, and desired outcome.

What to Expect from a Chemical Peel
Chemical peels range in strength from mild to deep. Mild peels can be done on a lunch hour. The gentle nature of ingredients such as glycolic acid produces very little redness and only minor flaking for a day or two. The mild peel is ideal for patients who want a jump start on their anti-aging routine, or who want to maintain the results of other types of treatment. Medium peels may cause the skin to look slightly sunburned for a few days. Peeling will be a little more pronounced, requiring a short recovery period. This does not mean that treatment is painful, just that you may not want to be at work with flaking skin. When a deep chemical peel is selected, we suggest scheduling when four to five days can be spent out of the sun.
