Brow Lift Basics

Getting older comes with benefits of wisdom and experience, but unfortunately it also comes with wrinkles. Many wrinkles develop as a result of repeated facial expressions, which means many people end up with significant lines and creases in their forehead and in between the brows. These lines don’t just make you look older, they can also sometimes make you look stressed and tired. While there are short-term solutions like Botox, a brow lift may provide a more long-term solution. Keep reading to learn more.

What is a brow lift?
brow liftA brow lift is a cosmetic surgery procedure that lifts sagging eyebrows, tightens underlying tissues, and leaves the patient with smoother skin. There are multiple brow lift techniques and the specific type of brow lift performed will depend on your specific goals and appearance.

Common techniques include the temporal brow lift, the endoscopic brow lift, and the coronal brow lift. These different techniques require different incisions, so your surgeon can help you explore your options and determine what technique is best for you. An endoscopic brow lift, for example uses a small camera that is inserted through a small incision to keep incisions to a minimum and lift underlying tissues from the inside.

Incisions are made as inconspicuous as possible and are often completely sealed within the hairline. The surgery will be performed under general anesthesia or intravenous sedation to keep you comfortable and prevent pain.

Who can benefit from a brow lift?
People who are generally healthy, and who do not smoke are usually good candidates for a brow lift. If you’re bothered by sagging brows that leave your eyes hooded, or wrinkles and creases in your forehead, you may benefit from a brow lift.

In some cases a brow lift can be performed in conjunction with other cosmetic procedures like dermal filler injections, Botox injections, or a facelift. Your surgeon can help you evaluate your options.

If you feel that age has left you with sagging brows, wrinkles, or lines on your forehead that make you look tired, older, or stressed, a brow lift may be a good option for you. To learn more about cosmetic procedures, schedule a consultation with Dr. Alan Serure.
