MINI ABDOMINOPLASTY PROCEDURE BY DR. ALAN SERURE IN MIAMI, FLORIDA

In patients who have less redundant lower abdominal skin, Dr. Alan Serure will frequently use a Mini Abdominoplasty technique. It is done with a smaller bikini scar, concealed by even the smallest bikini. This is usually combined with Liposuction/Liposculpture and sometimes muscle tightening, with less visible scars. Patients that are a candidate for this usually have good skin tone and do not have a large excess of loose skin. Patients will usually have a drain placed that is removed in seven to fourteen days. Most sutures with a Mini Abdominoplasty are absorbable, with a few of them removed in the first week or two following surgery. The incisions are sealed with glue, so patients may shower the day following surgery if they wish. Mini Abdominoplasty is performed as an outpatient procedure, under general sedation or an epidural. Mini Abdominoplasty is performed under general anesthesia. In most cases, an epidural anesthetic with sedation is the preferred choice by Dr. Alan Serure, giving the patients a speedier and smoother recovery.

Mini Abdominoplasty is performed only in patients with stable weight and without a history of blood clotting disorders. Smokers are not candidates for Mini Abdominoplasty and must be nicotine free prior to embarking on surgery. As in all procedures, patients must be in optimal physical condition. It is advised that out of town patients stay in Miami for at least two weeks following surgery so they can be observed and appropriate post operative care can be given.
