GYNECOMASTIA (MALE BREAST REDUCTION) BY DR. ALAN SERURE IN MIAMI, FLORIDA

Gynecomastia is a common condition that may occur in adolescent boys. In a large percentage of the cases, this will resolve in a year or two. If it does not, surgery may be indicated. Men and teenagers who have gynecomastia will have "female appearing" breasts. Sometimes enlarged breasts may be treated with liposuction alone to reduce the size of the breasts. If there is some breast tissue that may need to be surgically excised, it is done through barely perceptible incisions at the edge of the areola. Dr. Serure may combine both excision of gynecomastia with liposuction. The position of the nipples can also be adjusted through incisions around the areola.

Gynecomastia is performed as an outpatient procedure, under general anesthesia. As in procedures, patients must be in optimal physical condition. It is advised that out of town patients remain in Miami for one week so they can be observed and appropriate post operative care can be given.
