REDUCTION MAMMOPLASTY (BREAST REDUCTION) BY DR. ALAN SERURE IN MIAMI, FLORIDA

Breast Reduction is performed in women who have disproportionately large breasts. Frequently women will experience pain and discomfort due to the heaviness of their breasts, resulting in back, neck, and shoulder pain. Women may have difficulty participating in physical activities and some are unable to find appropriately fitting work-out clothing or bathing suits. Breast reduction may aid women in looking slimmer and sometimes can improve posture.

The incisions may be done around the areola only, or around the areola and extending down in a vertical fashion (lollipop), or in the inframammary crease in an inverted "T" fashion.

Breast Reduction can be performed as an outpatient procedure. Anesthesia can be done under general anesthesia or sedation.

Smokers are not candidates for Breast Reduction procedures and the patient must be nicotine free prior to embarking on surgery. As in all procedures, patient must be in optimal physical condition. In preparation for Breast Reduction surgery, patients are instructed not to take Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Motrin, or any related aspirin product. It is advised that out of town patients stay in Miami for one to two weeks so they can be observed and appropriate post operative care can be given.
