BREAST AUGMENTATION (BREAST ENLARGEMENT) BY DR. SERURE IN MIAMI, FLORIDA
Breast Augmentation surgery will benefit women with breasts that are small, for causes ranging from lack of development, diminution in size following child birth, weight loss, or simply to enhance breast appearance. Breast Augmentation involves the surgical placement of breast implants to increase the fullness and projection of the breasts. Breasts that are asymmetric or unequal in size can be improved with breast augmentation. When breasts exhibit sagging due to age, weight loss, or following pregnancy, a lift procedure (mastopexy) may also be advised. Dr. Serure will evaluate you and your individual needs to determine the best surgical procedures to accomplish your goals. Dr. Serure will employ a small incision, either at the edge of the areola, underneath the breast (inframammary crease), or through an incision in the axillary region (transaxillary/armpit) to place the implant. The incisions fade with time and are usually barely perceptible. All sutures that are placed are absorbable. Glue is used to seal the wounds so patients can shower the day following surgery. Patients leave the surgical suite in a soft bra without any other dressings. Patients can resume all normal activities within a few days. Strenuous exercise can be resumed in three to four weeks.
The implants utilized are SALINE (salt water) or SILICONE GEL implants. Silicone gel implants may give you a more natural and softer result. Newer cohesive gel (gummy bear) implants have resulted in softer and more natural breasts. Saline implants may also give an excellent result in selected patients. Patients are instructed to stop taking Aspirin, Ibuprofen, and fish oil prior to surgery. Many patients are required to have a recent mammogram.
Breast Augmentation is performed as an outpatient procedure, under heavy sedation or general anesthesia.
As in all procedures, patients must be in optimal physical condition prior to embarking on surgery. It is advised that out of town patients stay in Miami for one week so that they can be observed and appropriate post operative care can be given.
